The New York City Regional Innovation Node (NYCRIN) is a network of over 25 leading universities in the New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Delaware, and Pennsylvania area designed to support regional needs for innovation education, infrastructure and research by providing state-of-the-art training for academic researchers and technologists through the National Science Foundation I-Corps program. NYCRIN will work cooperatively to build, utilize and sustain a national innovation ecosystem that further enhances the development of technologies, products and processes that benefit society.

I-Corps Nodes will foster understanding on how to:

  • Identify, develop and support promising ideas that can generate value
  • Create and implement tools and resources that enhance our nation’s innovation capacity
  • Gather, analyze, evaluate and utilize the data and insight resulting from the experiences of the I-Corps Teams
  • Share and leverage effective innovation practices on a national scale to improve the quality of life for the U.S. citizenry

NYCRIN will provide state-of-the-art innovation research and training services that interconnect regional academic technologists with entrepreneurial and business partners. NYCRIN strives to become the global leader in technology innovation and entrepreneurial business development.

The mission of NYCRIN is three-fold.

The first is to teach the National Science Foundation (NSF) I-Corps program. Conducting the intensive national training program gives the teaching team and NYCRIN leaders valuable insight into the Lean LaunchPad program and its benefits.

Our second aim builds on this foundation training by the development of a regional infrastructure which provides innovation research, education, outreach, and commercial development activities across the network.

The final aim is to gather and analyze the assessment data that will help to optimize the way institutions support and foster the national innovation ecosystem.
